Howdy! I’m Donna. The Myofascial Release Therapist in Austin, Texas dedicated to getting you out of pain. I’m so glad you’re here!
I found Myofascial Release during my own walk through chronic pain…
In 2010, I realized that I had been nursing the same daily headache every single day for 8 years at that point. I was in severe pain every single day. This began my grueling search for relief from the pain. I started with a pain doctor because I was concerned with making sure I didn't have a brain tumor.
There was no tumor.
Now, you might say that’s a good thing. And in the long run, it was. However, I was so disappointed to not have a tumor because I saw that tumor as an answer for the pain I was in daily. A tumor can be taken out. A tumor is a good reason to be in pain. When there wasn’t a tumor, I felt so let down because I didn’t think that there was any other reason for me to be having the pain I was having. I was so wrong.
This is when I went deep into the depression of chronic pain. I felt hopeless and powerless. I contemplated suicide daily.
My time spent with the pain doctor was frustrating to say the very least. I was prescribed pain pills that did literally nothing for my condition. None of them worked for my pain.
The physical therapist I was sent to not only did nothing for my pain but most of the time it seemed like they just didn't care about helping me feel better. I didn’t feel seen as a person. The at home exercises they gave me didn't work.
I've gone through every modality to get rid of my pain...acupuncture, massage therapy (including painful deep tissue…just why?), reiki, Pilates, chiropractic, myofascial release…and what felt like a thousand other things.
The only things that had any level of relief for me were reiki and John Barnes Myofascial Release. Myofascial Release quickly became my favorite thing about my week and was my reason for living.
I remember after about six months of treatment, I stood from the massage table and started to cry hysterically.
My headache was gone.
The relief lasted for a total of 30 minutes. It took several more months of treatment before I had my next "no headache" occurrence and it lasted for 4 hours that day.
I was patient and stayed the course and after about three years of treatment, I can say I no longer have that headache. I had some horrible days (healing crisis) and I had some truly wonderful days along the road. I wouldn't trade the experience for the world and that's why I'm here.
“I want to give others the joy and fulfillment of a pain free life.”
It's a blessing to be here and I want to help you on your walk to a pain free life. I firmly believe in the healing power of Myofascial Release and know from first-hand experience that anyone can heal their body and connect the mind and soul to that healing.
